Human Resources and the Dark Side

There are bad apples in every profession, but it hurts a little more when you read about ones in your own profession, especially when that profession is one that is setting, enforcing, and demonstrating policy and culture for a company.

The head of human resources for the Dallas ISD, Carmen Darville, resigned yesterday, after some inappropriate instant messages were made public that she sent through the school district’s internal Microsoft Lync system. One of the department’s deputies, Jose “Tony” Munoz, also resigned due to the instant messages. The disparaging messages were uncovered by former investigator Vickie Blair.

So remember, those instant messages you send on your company’s internal systems do not belong to you and are not private, regardless of how badly you want them to be.
